Who are we
Who are we?
On December 2005, the Ministry of Justice had delivered the State Certificate to “Memoria” Center, which confirms the public utility of our organization.
The Center started its activity on April 2000 with the pilot-project in “Regional Program for Fortification” financed by European Union and implemented by International Rehabilitation Council of Torture Victims (IRCT).
From the opening of the Center till present, the annual projects were successfully implemented and highly appreciated by our beneficiary and donors. Important experiences we got during 2001-2002 in the joint Project financed by EU Commission, implemented with the Rehabilitation Centers of ICAR Foundation (Romania) - the main applicant of the project and also with similar Centers from Hungary and Poland.
Being one of the rehabilitation centers accredited at the international level in 2002, RCTV “Memoria” became the member of the General Assembly of IRCT. A representative person from the RCTV “Memoria” team was chosen as member of IRCT Council from European region for 2002-2006 years.
Vision
A prosper society in which would be guaranteed the respecting of the Human Rights, especially the right do not be tortured, in which every person will benefit from the qualitative services, including the (medical one), will feel him/herself as useful member of the society and to contribute to the social progress. As the representative of the civil society, RCTV “Memoria” will be an active and important actor in the development and prosperity of society.
Mission
Rehabilitation through a complex assistance: medical, psychosocial and legal of victims of torture, and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, as well as the promotion of the building of a society without torture.

Providing medico-social and legal support to torture victims and their families;

Improving the health status and quality of life of assisted persons, their social reintegration with re-establishing of their integrity, reputation and self-respect.

Prevention of torture and safeguarding the rights of victims to medical services and compensation.

Improving the staff knowledge about torture victims and creating a model of rehabilitation services for special categories of persons.

Collaboration with other similar centers and persons involved in the rehabilitation of torture survivors.
